'Take-away' meals served during Covid

Khanyisa operates a soup kitchen, assisted by volunteers from local churches, with two sittings each weekday morning and by giving out food parcels on Fridays.

The serving of meals during Covid has been adapted to meet government regulations.  Currently the daily meal is served as a 'take-away' through a hatch in the main gate.  All necessary protocols are followed i.e. social distancing, mask wearing and hand sanitizing.

Over 1, 500 meals a month are served at the centre.

Each day devotions are held before serving meals and our spiritual leader offers counselling to the needy.

Donations are shared and distributed with other charitable organisations in Edenvale and Tembisa if they cannot be used by Khanyisa.

More than 80% of our beneficiaries are previously disadvantaged, of which 75% are male.

Khanyisa is currently able to extend it's outreach by supporting other organisations in need.  Pre-made, frozen soup is provided weekly to support the Bedfordview Methodist soup kitchen, Ubuhle Bezwe orphanage in Tembisa and Setshabelo an Aids orphanage.  This outreach amounts to around 900 meals per month.
